William "Bill" Brown

Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 2nd, 2022 at the age of 92.  He was a dedicated, kind, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; and his brothers, John and Jim.  He is survived by their children, Steve (Diane), Tom (Anna), and Amy (Joel); grandchildren, Cally, Will, Shelby (Nick), Tatum, Summer, Sophie, and Julia; great grandson, Nickolas; and by his brother, Bob.

Bill was born on March 22nd, 1930 in Brainerd Minnesota.  After attending Breck High School, Bill went to the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering.    

Bill and Jean were happily married for 65 years, and he loved spending time with family, running, traveling with Jean, and hanging out with neighbors and friends.  As an aerospace engineer for Honeywell for over 30 years, he worked on major NASA projects including Project Gemini and Project Apollo.  He was also an avid runner who ran multiple marathons including the Boston Marathon when he was 60.  Most importantly, Bill was a supportive, caring, and kind person who touched the lives of many people. He always felt blessed and lucky to have such an interesting life and amazing family and friends.  Those of us who knew him are thankful that we were part of it.    

A celebration of life service for Bill and Jean (who died during the Covid outbreak) will be held on Saturday August 20th at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 Hamline Ave. N, Roseville MN. Visitation at 10 AM with a short service at 11 AM, followed by fellowship with friends and family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Feed My Starving Children or the Minnesota Humane Society.
